ecosystems remaining from the Atlantic “mata”, manguezais, fertile
valleys associated to coastal “restingas” (shoals), falésias, fósseis,
beaches and chorale reefs.
The privileged geographic situation, the rich variety of fauna and
flora, as well as the natural environment diversity and historical
weight density of this region enhanced by the panoramic beauty of the
landscape, have determined its progressive occupation mainly coming from
the tourism stripe. Besides, big public investments have been
accomplished. Among them, it is worthwhile mentioning, the Santa Cruz
Cabrália – Belmonte highway, and the services growth offer, thus
reflecting an increase in the tourist demand.
